A Crisis of Protocol

Hello there, I'm Dr. Phil, and welcome to my blog!

One my hobbies is Marvel Crisis Protocol. It is a miniatures game based on the superheroes and supervillains from the Marvel universe. Each character is represented by a miniature at 40mm scale, which corresponds to a 1:48 ratio. The characters are purchased unpainted and unassembled, and painting the miniatures for me is what makes the hobby so much fun. When painting a miniature, there is a special moment when the miniature ceases to be a grey piece of plastic and becomes the fictional character that it is meant to represent. It's amazing how many details the brain is processing to create a complete picture and mental concept; Iron Man doesn't become Iron Man until his armor is shining in the light, his Arc Reactor is glowing, and the ground he's standing on is filled with rubble. Iron Man is currently painted just enough to pass for game play, but I have several others that I've spent hours of time on every little detail.

Iron Man is a Work In Progress (WIP)

I get the chance to play with these miniatures mainly at home with my wife. In one game, Heimdall teamed up with Magneto and Scarlet Witch to help open portals to the Dark Dimension. As the portals opened, powerful cosmic cubes also appeared around the city, and Scarlet Witch saw an opportunity to enhance her power to even greater heights. Hood sensed the plan through his connection to Dormammu, who appealed to him to help the Brotherhood in their efforts, but he denied Dormammu, wanting to control his own destiny and preserve the city where he had so recently established his Criminal Syndicate. Not knowing who else to turn to, he contacted the Avengers, and Captain America, the Falcon, Luke Cage, and Iron Man responded to the call. The Avengers collected several of the cosmic cubes, but the whirling maelstrom of buildings, cars, and signposts was too much. Luke Cage's unbreakable skin was no match for Scarlet Witch, as she reached inside his mind and destroyed his body from the inside out. In a desperate attempt, Iron Man called down his H.E.L.I.O.S. laser array from space onto Heimdall, who was killed in the blast, but it was too late. As Captain America went down, the portals opened completely...and the world was changed forever to Scarlet Witch and Magneto's whim!

Iron Man's rockets and lasers just weren't enough!
